Forgotten Pleasures -- Day 2

I had forgotten how much fun a fitness club (gym) can be. The simple pleasure of people watching is fantastic. There was a time in the seemingly distant past when being at the gym was second nature, and I can now recall the fun of watching people on fitness equipment. The hopeful promises that has me there, has many other newcomers as well--only magnifying the humor of the situation.

I had forgotten the euphoric, yet strangely dis-orienting feeling of walking on solid ground after 45 minutes on a treadmill. Even after 'cooling down' at a slow pace on a treadmill, once you step off and start toward the locker room, you feel like you are traveling at 500 MPH.

I had forgotten the feeling you get walking OUT of a gym....The sense of accomplishment....The raising of self-image. I love the feeling I get after a good workout.

I had forgotten that when I work out, I am much more inclined to eat well. I don't feel burdened by menu choices after going to the gym. Though only in my sub-conscience, I intuitively understand that everything I eat, I have to work off. This is nothing new, or special; it just seems to 'come to life' when I work out.

So, here I am at the end of day two (2) of "The Challenge" and after my first day with any exercise. I hope that after six months, the 'shine' is still on the experience. Or that I can look back on this little note and remind myself of these "Forgotten Pleasures."
